Lock groups is a powerful feature which can be used to easily add cards and pins to multiple locks at one time easily. For example, if your room has a secondary hallway entry, you may great a lock group for each room and its hallway. You may also decide to add common doors to the same group. When creating a key, select the group and all locks within that group will automatically be added to the key. To create a lock group, open the Doors and Locks > Lock Groups menu.
Create a group of locks called “All Locks” . Use that group to create “Backup” / “Master” keys for use during network outage. Keeping Master keys / codes handy will allow you to gain entry if something goes wrong.
Ensure reception staff are familiar with the use of the KASAccess mobile app and are logged in to the app as an administrative user. This will allow reception staff to remotely set clocks and remote unlock via the mobile app.
In the advent of a network failure. Should clock resets fail, the mobile app can be used to reset the clock via both Bluetooth. In the mobile app, hold your phone close to the handle and wait for the Bluetooth Icon to change to dark blue. Then select the lock to bring up a menu and select “Set Clock”. If you are within Bluetooth range of the lock, the clock reset will occur via Bluetooth. If you are not within range of the lock, the clock reset will go through your gateways (requires internet connection).
All guests with keys allocated can use their mobile phone to gain entry to their locks via Bluetooth. Guests can log into the app with their key identifier as the username and the one time password “defaultpass”. Under app settings (Android : Account > Settings) (IPhone: Phone Settings > KASAccess) you’ll find an option to “Auto Unlock”. When switched on, this option will automatically unlock the closest lock which is within range. To use, after adjusting the setting above, simply open the KASAccess and hold your phone to a door. If you are logged in and within Bluetooth range, the door will open and close the app automatically. Note. AutoUnlock works best with a low Bluetooth Sensitivity, set low enough so that phones will only be detected when they are held close to the lock. (In KASAccess > Property settings – see below).
You can adjust Bluetooth sensitivity via KASAccess web console under “Properties” > “BT close range sensitivity” and “BT long range sensitivity“. Close range setting of 45 means your phone must be held to the lock. A setting of 65-75 generally means the phone can be left in your pocket, 90+ is equivalent to about 10m.
AutoUnlock is a feature available to KASAccess Administrators as well as Guest users. From the KASAccess mobile app, got to Account > Open Settings” and enable AutoUnlock. AutoUnlock will unlock the lock with the closest range to your current position (must be within Bluetooth range).
You can combine AutoUnlock with “Auto Close After Unlock” to automatically close the KASAccess app after a lock has been unlocked. Combined with AutoUnlock, this feature is handy because it allows you to simply open the KASAccess App using voice control, or by clicking on the KASAccess Icon (for example), the closest lock with automatically unlock and the app will close directly after. You do not need to wait for the lock to unlock before locking your phone and returning it to your pocket.
Using Auto Close After Unlock will also ensure your Bluetooth connection is closed after a successful unlock, ensuring the Bluetooth connection to your lock ends gracefully, increasing Bluetooth reliability.
Did you know you that guests or residents can use the voice to open KASAccess? Ensure “Auto Unlock” is enabled (see above).
On Iphone, create a shortuct “Open CAS” (KAS deliberately spelt “CAS” in this case). Click “Open App”, Click the word “App” and select KASAccess from the list and save. Now to test say “Open KAS” and hold your phone within range of your lock.
On Android, ensure voice control is turned on and “Hey google” responds to your voice correctly. Then just say “Hey Google … Open KASAccess” while your phone is within Bluetooth range of your lock (it can even be left in your pocket if permissions allow).
You can set a lock or ACR to use the “Long range” sensitivity option via KASAccess web console > ACRs and Locks > Select the ACR and select “Is Long Range Sensitivity” checkbox.

Did you know you can set a “Rolling Pincode”? Rolling pincode is a pincode which changes daily and can be useful for providing one day only access to doors and locks (for example to trades or cleaners). Rolling pincodes reset daily at 2am, the details of the pincode are sent to your nominated email. To adjust settings, got to Properties > Select the property and check “Rolling Pincode Active” and enter administrative email under “Rolling Pincode Email”.
Slave locks can be configured for each individual lock under the Door and Locks > ACRs and Locks menu, then selecting the Lock you wish to add a slave to. Slave locks allow all keys added to the “master” lock to be automatically added to a slave. You can daisy chain multiple slaves together to allow the addition of a key to one lock, the propagate to multiple locks automatically. Slave lock feature works with KASAccess added keys as well as keys added through the API interface.
